GemHR Consulting was founded by Meg Riat, a nationally certified HR leader with over 20 years of hands-on experience helping organizations thrive.

With dual certifications—Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from HRCI and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP)—Meg holds two of the most respected credentials in the profession.

She is also a Gallup-Certified CliftonStrengths Coach, skilled in helping individuals and teams unlock their strengths to drive results, and a Certified Mental Health Ally, equipped to support employee well-being and promote inclusive, emotionally healthy workplaces.

A passionate advocate for the profession, Meg has served as Chapter President of the Prince William SHRM Chapter and currently serves as the State Director for the SHRM Virginia and DC State Council—leadership roles that reflect her deep commitment to elevating the HR community at both the local and state levels.

Backed by experience in both corporate and nonprofit settings, Meg brings a strategic mindset, strong ethical foundation, and practical tools that work in the real world. Known for her honest feedback and upbeat approach, she has earned a reputation for solving workplace challenges with clarity and compassion.
